Spurs striker Janssen rejects Galatasaray move

London - Struggling Tottenham Hotspur striker Vincent Janssen has rejected a move to Galatasaray, according to the player’s agent.

Janssen is yet to score from open play in his 26 appearances for Spurs this season after a £17million move from AZ Alkmaar.

Although the Dutch international has successfully converted three penalties, he has been unable to find the form that saw him net 27 times in 34 games for Alkmaar last year.

Galatasaray have been prepared to offer Janssen an escape route, but the 22-year-old’s agent, Patrick van Dierman, insists he wants to fight for his place at White Hart Lane.

“He decided to turn down all interest. Galatasaray came with an offer but Vincent will stay with Tottenham Hotspur,” he told Omroep Brabant.

“Vincent chose Tottenham Hotspur in the summer fully aware of what his chances would be to play. He signed a long-term contract with a good club with fantastic facilities and a good coach.

“Before he got injured he got playing time every week. He is enjoying his time and wants to fight for his chance.”

The Dutchman will hoping to be involved when Spurs travel to the Etihad Stadium to face Pep Guardiola's Manchester City on Saturday.

Kick off is at 19:30.
