Spurs set sights on Liverpool's Sturridge - report

Cape Town - Tottenham have been tipped to make a move for Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge, who will be a free agent at the end of the 2018/19 season.

Sturridge is due to fall out of contract at Anfield at the end of the campaign and appears unlikely to extend his stay with the club, having struggled to secure a regular place in the side since Jurgen Klopp took charge in 2015.

The striker has stressed his full focus is on Liverpool's title bid rather than his own future at present, but he could be tempted by a move to Tottenham when the transfer window reopens.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino was linked with a number of strikers last summer and in January but failed to bring in a new forward and attacking targets are likely to be a priority again at the end of the season.

Fernando Llorente is set to move on when his deal expires in June, and Pochettino could see 29-year-old Sturridge as a perfect replacement for the Spaniard.

The former Chelsea and Manchester City man has had injury issues in recent years but still has an impressive scoring record in the Premier League.

Sturridge has two goals in the league this season despite playing just 270 minutes across 13 appearances, while he has 50 in 111 league games in total for Liverpool.
