Cape Town - Serge Aurier's absence from the matchday squad against Manchester United has been explained, with the Tottenham Hotspur defender arrested on Saturday following a bust-up with his girlfriend.
The police were called to Aurier's residence in Hertfordshire on Saturday evening, after a heated argument with his partner, reality TV star Hencha Voigt.
The Ivory Coast international was taken in for questioning on suspicion of Actual Bodily Harm before being released without charge.
A spokesperson for Hertfordshire Police confirmed: "A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of ABH. He has been released with no further action."
Tottenham, meanwhile, released the following statement: "We are aware of an incident concerning Serge Aurier this weekend. The player was released without charge."
Aurier has been used sparingly by Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino this season, making just 12 appearances in all competitions.
In his six Premier League appearances this term, Aurier has bagged two goals and provided one assist.
