Spurs lower Eriksen asking price - report

Cape Town - Tottenham have reportedly lowered their valuation of Denmark international Christian Eriksen as they look to cash in on the midfielder before his contract expires next June.

Eriksen's future has been a hot topic during this transfer window, with the Danish midfielder revealing in June that he "would like to try something new".

However, no move has materialised to date, with Daniel Levy's huge £130 million valuation proving off-putting for several potential suitors - especially given that he only has one year left on his contract.

Now, reports claim that Tottenham have more than halved their asking price for the 27-year-old. Foreign clubs will have to pay £50 million to sign him, with Real Madrid considering him as an alternative to Paul Pogba, whereas Premier League rivals will be asked for the slightly greater sum of £60 million.

That figure has caught the attention of Manchester United, who have reportedly offered him a five-year contract on a salary similar to Pogba's - a proposal he is giving genuine thought to despite their lack of Champions League football next season. Eriksen has been convinced that he would be a central part of the project at Old Trafford.

Reports also claim that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been discussing the idea of signing Eriksen for a long time. The United boss has a good relationship with Eriksen's international manager, Age Hareide, who is a fellow Norwegian.

Alongside United and Madrid, the list of interested parties for Eriksen includes Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid and Juventus, according to the Telegraph - who say that Spurs are expecting to receive cut-price bids from European clubs before their transfer deadline on 2nd September.
