Spurs announce Lo Celso loan deal

Cape Town – Tottenham Hotspurs have announced the signing of midfielder Giovani Lo Celso on a season-long loan with an option to make the transfer permanent.

"We are delighted to announce that we have reached agreement for the season-long loan signing of Giovani Lo Celso from Real Betis Balompié with an option to make the transfer permanent," the club said in a statement revealed.

"The attacking midfielder will wear the number 18 shirt this season."

After touching down in London to undergo a medical, the 23-year-old was linked with a move to Spurs for most of the summer.

There had also been rumours of the Argentine ace joining Tottenham on loan for the season with a view to a permanent move at the end of the term.

However, both parties were urged to get the deal done and worked hard to get it over the line before the Premier League transfer window closed at 17:00 (local time).

Spurs have already acquired the services of Tanguy Ndombele, Jack Clarke and are also looking to secure a deal with Fulham for starlet Ryan Sessegnon.

The London side open their Premier League account at home to Aston Villa on Saturday.

Kick-off is at 18:30.
