The Norwegian has sparked a revival of sorts at Old Trafford, as United have gone on a six game winning streak under his management, including Sunday’s 1-0 win at Tottenham Hotspur.
Speaking after taking their most recent scalp at Wembley, Solskjaer is now a man on a mission to catch third place Spurs. Currently, United are level with fifth-placed Arsenal.
“We had to beat them if we were to have a chance to catch them," Solskjaer told the press. "We were ten points behind now we’re seven. Seven points is catchable, 13 is impossible, ten difficult. Now we have the chance."
The former Red Devil went on to heap praise on Spanish stopper David de Gea - who made no less than 11 saves - and goalscorer Marcus Rashford who showed searing pace and accuracy to break the deadlock on Sunday.
"We've got the best goalkeeper in the world - I've said that many times - and we've got blistering pace up front and the goal was fantastic by Rash," he continued.
"It's a hard skill, you know, to score from that angle with a right foot and an instep. I thought he was going to go near post, but it was a well-struck finish."
