Solskjaer lifts Shaw after FA Cup shocker

Cape Town - Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has tried to raise Luke Shaw's spirits following Manchester United's recent FA Cup quarter-final defeat at Wolves.

Last weekend's 2-1 defeat at Molineux means the Red Devils won't be enjoying any domestic silverware this season, although they do have a Champions League quarter-final showdown next month with Barcelona to look forward to.

Old Trafford insiders, however, have stated Shaw took the FA Cup exit particularly badly and felt United's defence were culpable.

It's understood Solskjaer spent some time after the final whistle with the left-back and he was seen trying to put an arm around the player.

Shaw has formed a decent bond with the Norwegian and recently called for United execs to make the 46-year-old's caretaker role a permanent one, having turned the ship around since his arrival in late December.

The 23-year-old has featured in United's last 10 games but pulled out of the England squad this week with an injury, ahead of the Euro 2020 qualifiers against Czech Republic and Montenegro.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
