Silva agent unaware of United rumours

Cape Town - Thiago Silva's agent insists he knows nothing of Manchester United's reported interest in the Paris Saint-Germain captain.

The Brazil international has been linked with a move to Old Trafford following the appointment of Jose Mourinho as United's new manager on Thursday.

Silva has helped PSG dominate French football since his arrival from AC Milan in 2012, winning four successive Ligue 1 titles, the Coupe de la Ligue on three occasions and the Coupe de France twice.

Mourinho is expected to sign a recognised central defensive partner for Chris Smalling, who played alongside Daley Blind for much of the season under former Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal.

However, Silva's representative, Paulo Tonietto, is unaware that the FA Cup champions have targeted the 31-year-old centre-back, whose contract at Parc des Princes only expires in 2018.

"He has a contract with PSG for another two years," Tonietto told Tutto Mercato. "Join Jose Mourinho at Manchester United? At the moment, I know nothing."

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
