Schmadtke: No Liverpool offer for Hector

Cape Town - FC Koln chief executive Jorg Schmadtke insists there is no truth to the rumours that Liverpool are on the verge of signing Jonas Hector.

The 26-year-old left-back has been included in Germany's final 23-man squad for Euro 2016 after enjoying a good season with the Billy Goats, for whom he started 32 games in the Bundesliga.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is on the lookout for more options on the left side of defence to provide competition for Alberto Moreno, and the Merseysiders have been keeping tabs on Hector for quite some time.

But reports suggesting that the Germany international is heading to Anfield after a fee had been agreed between the two clubs are wide of the mark, according to Schmadtke.

"There's nothing in it. There is no question of an offer from Liverpool," he told German publication Express.

"If someone comes up with double [the number in question], then I might answer the phone. But I believe that Jonas plays in the new season with us."

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
