Sarri didn't know Chelsea were poised to sign Pulisic

Cape Town - Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has admitted he "didn't know anything" about the signing of Borussia Dortmund's Christian Pulisic before the transfer was announced.

The Blues hierarchy asked the Italian tactician for his thoughts on the USA captain at the start of December, but that was seemingly the only input he had in the transfer.

However, such a situation is not new to Sarri, with the manager known for having no interest in being involved in transfer dealings at his previous clubs.

As such, Sarri was asked on Thursday whether he had sanctioned the move for Pulisic.

When asked about Pulisic's move, Sarri answered: "I don't know. I didn't know anything about Pulisic on Tuesday.

"The club asked my opinion about him about one month ago. My opinion was positive.

"Today I have known that the deal is done but I didn't know anything."

Pulisic is regarded as one of the top young prospects in European football, after becoming a mainstay in the Dortmund team as a teenager.

To date, the attacking midfielder has featured 81 times for the German outfit, scoring 10 goals in the process.

He will not feature for the Blues this season, though, as he will stay at Dortmund on loan for the remainder of the campaign.
