Cape Town - Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho believes struggling Alexis Sanchez does not want to leave the club in January.
Sanchez has been way below his best in 2018/19 and has started just five of United's 12 matches while scoring just once.
In addition, the Chile star was dropped from the squad completely for the 3-1 defeat to fierce rivals Manchester City.
The 29-year-old has struggled to replicate the kind of sparkling form he produced in his earlier career where he scored 80 goals in 166 appearances for Arsenal.
As such, the player has been linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium amid reports of growing dressing room unrest between himself and Mourinho.
Nonetheless, the Portuguese believes he will stay telling Sky Sports: "I don't think so because he has never told me that he wants to leave. He never told me that he's not happy to stay.
"He is playing like the team. He is improving, like the team is improving, when he plays he is giving us his personality.
"His desire is to play and to produce for the team and [he is] trying to adapt to the way we play and vice versa.
"Can he do better? We all can do better. I can do better, he can do better, all the players can do better."
