Sanchez keen to make Inter switch permanent

Cape Town - Manchester United forward Alexis Sanchez has been tipped to return to Old Trafford in December in a bid to secure a permanent switch to Inter Milan.

The Chilean forward dislocated his left ankle playing for his country against Colombia in October, ruling the Old Trafford flop out until late February.

Despite that, Inter officials have publicly stated they would like to keep the former Arsenal man - as long as the power-brokers at Manchester United are realistic in their financial demands.

Reports in Italy claim that Sanchez is ready to 'play his part' and travel to England next month to meet with his employers, with the inference also being that the player is ready to sacrifice a large part of the £50m in wages he would still be owed by United under the terms of his outrageous £505 000-per-week contract.

At present, the two clubs are paying half each towards his salary, and United will certainly be interested in what Sanchez and his advisers have to say.

The South American has cost them close to £30 million in wages so far, following the swap move involving former United midfielder Henrik Mkhitaryan to the Emirates Stadium in January 2018.

Sanchez managed just five goals in 46 appearances during his miserable 18-month spell at the Theatre of Dreams and has no intention of ever pulling on the United jersey again.

His parent club are receiving regular updates on his injury progress but are increasingly resigned to the prospect of waiving any significant transfer fee next summer, to remove the 30-year-old from their wage bill and a pay-off still in the tens of millions.

United insiders have revealed Sanchez's former team-mates haven't heard from him since leaving for Italy on loan in August, suggesting his visit to England will be all about the two sides compromising over a possible clean break.
