Ryan: Brighton going to Newcastle with confidence

Cape Town - Brighton goalkeeper Mathew Ryan is looking forward to the trip to Newcastle United and believes the Seagulls should be optimistic about the game.

Chris Hughton's charges came away with a point last season, as they drew 0-0 at St James' Park, and Ryan played a key role in the draw as he made a few important saves.

He told the press: "It's a great atmosphere up there, and it's a great arena to play football.

"We managed to take four points off them last season with a draw away and a win at home, so we can go up there with some confidence.

"I was happy to make a couple of saves and keep a clean sheet in the game up there, and I enjoyed the challenge. Even though we couldn't get the winner, I thoroughly enjoyed the match."

Brighton come into the Newcastle clash on the back of a 1-0 victory over West Ham United, prior to the international break. They are 13th in the Premier League standings.
