Rondon: Newcastle can turn it around

Cape Town - Newcastle United striker Salomon Rondon remains bullish about the club's Premier League prospects despite going four games without a win.

The Magpies were handed a tough run of fixtures to get their season underway. They lost to Tottenham, Chelsea, and Manchester City while playing out a goalless draw with Cardiff City.

The results have put them down in 18th position with only one point from four games. However, Rondon believes if they keep working hard and build some confidence, they will soon turn the corner.

He told the club's official website: "We have to keep going - that is the only way to change the situation.

"The confidence is the most important thing in this sport.

"We just have to start not conceding goals, and continue our positive performances, our positive things, and keep looking forward."

Asked about the defeat to Manchester City on Saturday, Rondon added: "It was a really good performance against a good team, but we lost the game and we have to keep working.

"We have to keep working, looking forward and be ready for the Arsenal game as soon as possible."

Newcastle will host Arsenal after the international break on September 15.
