Reus eager to see Batshuayi stay

Cape Town - Borussia Dortmund winger Marco Reus says on-loan striker Michy Batshuayi has proven his worth at the club and should make his move permanent at the end of the season.

Batshuayi is on loan at the BVB from Premier League champions Chelsea until the end of the current campaign and has made an instant impact at the Bundesliga side.

In the absence of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who left Dortmund for Arsenal in January, the Belgium international has scored five Bundesliga goals in six games and two Europa League goals in three outings.

Reus has been impressed by Batshuayi, who also scored a stoppage-time winner in Dortmund's win over Eintracht Frankfurt at the weekend, and is hopeful that he will stay at the club for next season.

"I would be very happy if Michy stays," Reus told Bild.

"He showed how important he can be for us. I hope we finish the season in a Champions League place."

The BVB are third in the Bundesliga and are fighting to qualify for the Champions League. They are only one point clear of Bayer Leverkusen in fourth and three points above Frankfurt.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
