Cape Town - Leicester City manager Claude Puel claims to have no knowledge about whether the new contract signed by Harry Maguire contains a release clause.
The England international was a target for Manchester United during the recent transfer window after enjoying fine debut season at the King Power Stadium.
The Foxes had no intention of selling, however, and Maguire stayed put. He was subsequently rewarded with an extension last week tying him to the East Midlands club until 2023.
Puel believes that securing the 25-year-old defender's future is a step in the right direction for the 2015/16 Premier League champions.
When asked if a release clause had been inserted into the deal, the Frenchman said: "I don't know the details of his contract.
"I can only say that it is a good feeling for all the club and for our fans.
"This signing shows the ambition of the club, the owners and for the fans it is very good feeling for the future.
"For the squad also - we kept our best player and it is a good thing to continue to improve.
"Harry knows his quality and importance for the club. He played very well all the time for the national team."
