Cape Town - French powerhouse Paris Saint-Germain are keeping an eye on David de Gea's contract situation at Manchester United, with a view to making a move.
The Spain international has 18 months remaining on his current deal after United took up the 12-month option in his contract, but they are keen to secure him to something more long term.
Negotiations are currently under way, but reports are suggesting the player's excessive demands could result in United refusing to meet them.
If that is the case, then De Gea could be on the move and PSG are in the hunt.
PSG want a long-term replacement for Gianluigi Buffon and see De Gea as the perfect goalkeeper to step in if a deal can be agreed with United officials.
The Reds are willing to offer De Gea £350,000 a week, but the player is reported to be holding out for more, and it also remains to be seen if PSG would go that high.
Meanwhile, the shot-stopper reached 100 clean sheets against Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday in a goalless draw.
But failed to keep a clean sheet against Crystal Palace on Wednesday evening as United Cruised to 3-1 victory.
Next up for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s charges are relegation threatened Southampton on Saturday, March 2.
Kick-off is at 17:00 (SA time).
