Prince William 'dying' for Leicester title win

London - Britain's Prince William has leapt aboard the Leicester City bandwagon, telling guests at a reception on Wednesday that he is "dying" to see them win the Premier League title.

Modest Leicester were at the bottom of the English top flight a year ago, but have charmed neutrals by surging seven points clear at the top of the table with six games of the season remaining.

William, second in line to the British throne, is a fan of Leicester's Midlands rivals Aston Villa, who are teetering on the brink of relegation to the second-tier Championship.

But at a lunch at London's Wembley Stadium to mark his 10 years as president of the Football Association, he told FA board members: "I'm dying for Leicester to win."

FA board member Ian Lenagan, an Oxford United director, said of William's comments: "He felt it would be good for football -- it would be great for the game.

"He's rather more worried about the prospect of Championship football from his own point of view."
