Cape Town - Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino was delighted with his team's showing as they recorded a 2-1 win over Swansea City at White Hart Lane on Sunday.
Italian striker Alberto Paloschi gave the Swans the lead midway through the first half, but Nacer Chadli drew Spurs level in the 70th minute before Danny Rose struck the winner seven minutes later.
"It's good to say it's one of the best performances," Pochettino said.
"The team is still improving and showed great character. That was fantastic. It's never easy and we showed a lot of character.
"This is the way we want to play and in football, it's not always automatic. At times, you play much better than the opponent and it was fantastic to score that second goal. We deserved the result and three points is very important."
The win keeps Spurs second in the Premier League standings, just two points behind leaders Leicester City and three ahead of neighbours Arsenal, who dropped points with a 3-2 defeat against Manchester United.
"I'm very pleased for the team," the Argentine coach added. "The players deserve it because they work so hard on the training ground. We have a squad that deserves to be in the position we're in and for that, I'm very proud.
"We'll enjoy this now but not for long, we have another tough game on Wednesday (against West Ham at Upton Park) and we need to be ready."
