Pochettino: Kane injury news better than expected

Cape Town - Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino says that a scan on Harry Kane's injured ankle has revealed "positive news".

The striker sustained an ankle ligament injury during their Premier League clash against Sunderland eight days ago and has been left out of the squad for Tuesday’s Champions League clash against CSKA Moscow.

Kane won't be the only absentee, with Mousa Dembele, Eric Dier, Danny Rose and Moussa Sissoko also staying behind.

Sissoko is being treated for concussion, while Dembele, Dier and Rose are all suffering from hamstring injuries.

Initial reports suggested Kane could miss up to eight weeks with injury but Pochettino says it is "much, much better" than they forecast.

“Half an hour ago, we received the information about the scan. It’s much, much better than we expected,” Pochettino said.

“We are happy, it was very positive, the scan. We’re very, very happy about this news but still we cannot give a time of how long it’ll be to recover.

“I am not a doctor, it’s hard to say one, two, three weeks, but it’s much, much better than we expected.”
