Poch: Spurs no longer fear derby rivals

Cape Town - Mauricio Pochettino has admitted Tottenham used to have a problem playing Arsenal and other London rivals.

After defeats to Burnley last weekend and Chelsea in midweek, Spurs are in danger of being dragged back into the pack of clubs fighting for a Champions League spot rather than challenging for the title.

All will be forgiven if they overcome arch-rivals Arsenal on Saturday lunchtime but Pochettino admits they used to have a problem playing the Gunners, although now he says Tottenham ‘believe we can beat any team’.

‘Yes, in my first season when I arrived here, it was a problem,’ he told reporters.

‘But also to play at West Ham, QPR… there were many things to improve.

We are at a level now that we believe we can beat any team.

‘It is impossible to win every single game but the mentality today is the right one.

‘We have to improve if you want to be a contender in the toughest league in the world but we are in the right way.”
