Cape Town - Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino thought his side were hard done by in Sunday's 2-1 defeat to Chelsea.

Spurs were defeated by two goals from Marcos Alonso at Wembley, the first a sublime free kick, the second low and through the fingers of Hugo Lloris, either side of an own goal from Michy Batshuayi.

"I'm very disappointed but at the same time, happy, because the performance was good," Pochettino said.

"Our fans were fantastic as always and I'm disappointed for them, disappointed for our team.

"I think we deserved more and played much better than Chelsea and that's why we're disappointed but happy, because if we play that way, we will win a lot more games.

"Chelsea were clinical, they scored in the key moments and for us, the chances we created we found impossible to score. That is the key of the game."

Spurs will be aiming to overturn their Wembley hoodoo when they host Burnley in an English Premiership clash on Sunday.

Kick off is at 17:00.
