Pep targeting Bayern's Coman when Sane departs - report

Cape Town - Manchester City are reportedly lining up a move for Bayern Munich forward Kingsley Coman as a potential replacement for Leroy Sane.

Sane is currently battling back from the knee injury he picked up while playing for City in the Community Shield at the start of the season, but it remains to be seen how long he will stay with the club for.

The German international was heavily linked with a move to Bayern during the summer but for one reason or another, a deal failed to materialise.

The knee injury was the final nail in the coffin to the Bayern deal, but even before then it looked unlikely as the two clubs could not agree on a fee, with City said to be holding out for £100 million.

However, Bayern's interest has not gone away and rumours are rife as they will attempt to resurrect the deal, either in the January transfer window or at the end of the season.

Sane himself is said to be keen on a return to his homeland after failing to nail down a place in City's star-studded side, and the fact he has yet to pen a new deal would suggest he is holding out for a move to Bayern.

With that in mind, mamanger Pep Guardiola is already eyeing potential replacements with Coman's name thrown into the frame.

Striking a deal could be problematic though as Bayern want Sane to link up with Coman at the Allianz Arena and do not see the City star as a replacement.

Following a tough time on the injury front, Coman has really stepped up to the plate for Bayern this season and is a key part of the club's plans going forward.

They are unlikely to agree to Coman leaving, but that may not stop City from lining up a potential swap deal in the new year.
