Pep calls Invincibles comparison 'ridiculous'

Cape Town - Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has rejected the notion that his side could finish the Premier League season unbeaten, labelling it 'ridiculous'.

The Sky Blues are the only side left in the Premier League that have not tasted defeat this season, after beating Burnley 3-0 to claim an 11th consecutive victory across all competitions.

City have been utterly dominant in their last seven Premier League games, scoring 29 goals and conceding only three, but Guardiola insists it's not realistic to talk about remaining unbeaten throughout the campaign.

“To finish unbeatable, that is not going to happen because we are in a lot of games and a lot of competitions are so demanding, more than ever. To win with this kind of record sounds ridiculous,” he told the press, according to Reuters.

”There will be a moment when we are going down. In that moment I am curious and I will test myself as a manager with the players and see how we are going to react.

“I know people like a lot the statistics and to compare one to another one with titles, and I am happy for the 11 wins in a row because we showed that we can win a lot of games in a row. But that’s all.”

City next face a trip to The Hawthorns to face West Brom on Saturday with the aim of maintaining their winning start to the campaign.

Guardiola will be fancying his chances of grabbing all three points with the Manchester side winning 15 times out of 22 fixtures played between the two sides.

Kick off is at 16:00.
