Pellegrino: Chance to impress at Anfield

Cape Town - Southampton manager Mauricio Pellegrino is optimistic that his side can compete with Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday and sees the game as a chance to impress.

The Saints have only managed one win in their four away games so far this season, and Pellegrino is eager to see improvement from his team when they're on the road.

"Maybe Southampton and Liverpool are teams with similar characteristics," he said, according to the Daily Echo.

"We are comfortable when we are managing the ball, when we are higher, when we are in the opposite half.

"I know that it will be really difficult because at Anfield the people are pushing all the time and they will be trying to press high up.

"It will be an opportunity for us to show how we can play this game and maybe with more space maybe it will be easier for us. We never know.

"I know it will be difficult but it is an opportunity to show again if we can do the same away as at home."

Pellegrino also has history with Liverpool, the Spaniard was assistant manager at the Reds between 2008 and 2010 when Rafael Benitez was at the helm.

Kick off is at 17:00.
