Pedro held talks over potential Barca return

Cape Town - Pedro has revealed he held talks with Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu about a possible return to the club ahead of the current season.

The 29-year-old Spain international joined Chelsea in 2015 and endured a difficult introduction to the Premier League, as the club, under Jose Mourinho, failed to build on winning the league just the year before, ahead of eventually finishing in 10th place.

While the move was never close to materialising, with Barca eventually signing Paco Alcacer from Valencia, Pedro says he is delighted to have stayed in England where he is currently enjoying a rich vein of form under new boss Antonio Conte.

He told RAC-1: "I talked with Bartomeu. But it was given more importance than the conversation merited.

"It is difficult to return somewhere, but you always have memories of a spell with a club."

Pedro, who opened the scoring after just 30 seconds in Chelsea's 4-0 romp over Manchester United, added: "I am happy with the playing time I am getting now.

"It is always good to play your part and help the team with goals whenever possible. I am feeling well physically."
