Ozil lauds Arsenal's 'sexy' football

Cape Town - Mesut Ozil lauded his side’s “sexy” football after his starring role in Arsenal’s 3-1 comeback win over Leicester City at the Emirates Stadium on Monday evening.

Ozil, who started as captain for the first time in his Arsenal career, netted the equaliser and then set up the other two goals as Unai Emery’s side extended their winning run to seven consecutive Premier League games.

“I think we played some sexy football tonight,” Ozil wrote on social media after the win. “Proud captain of this team and this club.”

Emery, meanwhile, was also happy with the display of his new captain.

“We are demanding a lot of variety and from Ozil it was a good performance. We will keep pushing and demanding from him,” said the Spaniard.

“I think he can play each match with this commitment, with this quality, whether he is captain or not captain.”

The victory was also a 10th consecutive win in all competition for the Gunners, the first time in 11 years that Arsenal have done so, though Emery called for calm.

“We need to think about the end,” Emery said. “We must continue working, improving, on tactical things to help us find the best performance."
