Obi dreaming of Ighalo partnership

Cape Town - Watford youngster Ogo Obi hopes to emulate compatriot Odion Ighalo and play alongside the Nigerian striker in the Premier League.

Obi, who had an excellent season with the U21 development squad, says the experience he's gained under manager Harry Kewell and playing at a higher level has motivated him to target a place in the first-team squad.

"I want to see how things go and try and take the next step into first-team football," the Nigerian youngster told the club's official website.

"It's been a good year for us as a team winning the league, but for me personally, there's been a lot of ups and downs.

"It's been great to be involved with the Under-21s and I've just tried to learn from what they do, even in training.

"Harry's also been great to work under and obviously as a former player at such a high level, when he's telling me stuff to do I can take it on board and I know he's been in the same situation as I have.

"I've just got to take everything as it comes, but of course I'm looking to push even further than the Under-21s.

"I've had a few injuries which means I haven't played as much as I would have liked to, but I'm happy for the team and the season that we've had together.

"I'm pleased with the amount of goals I've got, but I feel as though I could have scored even more.

"Because of the amount of games I played I feel like I did alright, but I always want to improve so next season I hope I can get even more."
