Noble confident Payet will stay put

Cape Town - West Ham United captain Mark Noble is certain Dimitri Payet will return to the club, despite concerns that the playmaker may succumb to the interests of a higher-profile club.

Payet was the Hammers' standout player last season, scoring 12 goals and notching up 15 assists in 38 matches across all competitions.

The 29-year-old midfielder has also carried his stellar club form into the international arena, scoring twice in three matches for France.

When asked by Sky Sports News HQ whether Payet will be at the club come the start of the 2016/17 season, Noble was optimistic in his response.

"I think he will be," the Irons captain said. "I've been in a lot of contact with him over the summer and he loves the football club.

"But football is football. So you never know, but obviously we'd all like to see him back here in the summer."
