Cape Town - Chelsea winger Willian has revealed that representatives from
Manchester United made an approach to sign him before the start of the
current Premier League season.
The Brazilian was a key member of the Chelsea team which won the
Premier League under Jose Mourinho two seasons ago, making 35
appearances as the Blues romped to the title.
So far this season, though, the 28-year-old has been in an out of
Antonio Conte's Chelsea side, and ahead of Chelsea's trip to Burnley on
Sunday, the 28-year-old confirmed that he was approached by the Red
Devils.
"There were enquiries, yes. It was from Manchester United, because
Mourinho is there too," he is quoted as saying to Globo Esporte.
"From other clubs I don't know but there are always some things on
the internet. I'm glad to hear that there are clubs that admire my
work."
Whilst he hasn't been a key member of Conte's side so far, Willian
admitted he is a fan of how the former Juventus boss goes about his
work.
"We [the team] had a difficult start, but then we got it right. He
[Conte] is coaching, coaching, helping all players," Willian continued.
"It is worth mentioning the group of players also, who managed to
understand his philosophy of work, take ideas into the field and do a
good job."
Chelsea who hold a 9 point lead at the top of the Premier League table travel to Turf Moor to face Sean Dyche's Burnley on Sunday in a league encounter.
Kick off is at 15:30.
