Cape Town - Manchester
United manager Jose Mourinho has revealed that centre-back Phil Jones
is likely to be fit to face Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, after limping off
against Huddersfield.
Jones left the pitch due to a knock last weekend, with the scoreline at 0-0, and United went on to lose the clash with the Terriers 2-1. However, Mourinho believes his defender will be back in contention against Spurs.
The Englishman was not in the match-day squad on Tuesday as the Red Devils won 2-0 against Swansea in the Carabao Cup, and Mourinho also reported that his team picked up no new injury problems.
"There were no injuries either, so it is a good day," Mourinho told Sky Sports, after the win over the Swans. "I believe that Phil Jones will be fit for Saturday against Tottenham, but apart from that I have no news."
United's three-man defence against the Swans consisted of Victor Lindelof, Chris Smalling, and teenager Axel Tuanzebe, while Sergio Romero was in goal.
"(Sergio) Romero and Smalling gave us good stability," Mourinho said after the game. "We were in the game from the first minutes, pressing and forcing things, the attitude was good.
"Scott McTominay did very well, he was strong in the midfield. Tuanzebe started maybe a little shaky, but then we got stability and he came into it."
Kick off is at 13:30.
