Cape Town - Arsenal
winger Henrikh Mkhitaryan has expressed his delight with having one of
his best friends, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, as a team-mate once again.
Mkhitaryan signed for the Gunners from Manchester United on January 22, in a swap-deal that saw Alexis Sanchez go the other way, and was instrumental in convincing his former Borussia Dortmund buddy to join him just before the window closed.
Aubameyang arrived just a few days before the home game against Everton on February 3, which Arsenal won 5-1, and he made an instant impact by scoring his first Gunners goal after Mkhitaryan played him through, just like during their time together at the BVB.
"We did not have too much time to train together (before the Everton game)," Mkhitaryan told the club’s official website.
"He came a bit late, like two days before the game and he had been training only twice.
"I thought it could only be in a dream that we could join another club other than Dortmund but I am very happy for that.
"I know him very well, he is one of my best friends and one of the best team-mates I have ever had.
"I am very happy to have him here and I think all the fans are happy to see him in an Arsenal shirt. What can I say? I love playing with him."
The Gunners next face Swedish side Ostersunds in a Europa League last-32 clash on Thursday night at the Jamtkraft Arena.
Kick-off is at 20:00 (SA time).
