Milner unsure about Liverpool future

Cape Town - Liverpool veteran James Milner recently entered into the final year of his contract with the European champions, and negotiations are yet to take place over offering him a new deal to stay on Merseyside.

The 33-year-old, who has been at Anfield since 2015 when joining from Manchester City on a free transfer, still remains an integral part of Jurgen Klopp's plans for the 2019/20 campaign.

However, it has all gone quiet on contract talks and Milner, although optimistic he will be handed fresh terms, admits he is being kept in the dark at the moment about the club's plans for his future.

"We spoke to the club a year ago and asked if they wanted to do something and they said not at that time. We haven't heard anything since," he told The Mirror.

"All I can do is concentrate on my football and do what I can."

Liverpool kick-off their quest for a maiden Premier League title at home to Championship winners Norwich City on Friday, August 9.
