Mignolet identifies Lukaku as Everton danger man

Cape Town - Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet feels Romelu Lukaku is Everton's main threat in Saturday's Merseyside derby at Anfield.

Mignolet's Belgium international team-mate has enjoyed a fine season for Ronald Koeman's side so far, topping the Premier League scoring charts with 21 goals.

Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of the match against Liverpool's local rivals, the keeper admitted Lukaku is the Toffees' main man, although he feels the 23-year-old shouldn't be singled out.

"Lukaku is in a good moment and we will have to deal with him. We have to prepare ourselves for that but it's Liverpool against Everton, not us against Lukaku," Mignolet said.

"He has all the ability he needs to be a very good player in the Premier League. He has strength, finishing and he is very important for Everton.

"He can do as much as he wants to do in his whole career, we just have to try and keep him quiet this Saturday.

"In the end that's the main thing. As a club we want to meet our objectives to get into the Champions League next season."

The Reds have claimed seven points from their last three matches and could move up to third place, albeit temporarily, with a victory over their neighbours.

Liverpool will be aiming to tighten their grip on a Champions League spot as they sit fourth going into the weekend's fixtures, with a four-point advantage over Manchester United in fifth.

Kick off is at 13:30.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
