Matip urges Reds to bounce back against Spurs

Cape Town - Liverpool defender Joel Matip has backed Jurgen Klopp's side to return to winning ways when they face Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield on Saturday.

The Reds have struggled for form since the turn of the year, going winless in their last five matches, which included the shock 2-0 defeat to Hull City last weekend.

However, prior to their run of form in 2017, the Reds were in second place on the Premier League table, having won four consecutive matches.

Speaking to the official Liverpool website this week, the Cameroonian player insists the squad will do their utmost to get back to winning ways soon.

"It was not a good day for us, of course, but next week is the next chance. We’ll try to do better and get some points," Matip said when asked about the defeat to Hull.

"We will do everything to get back to that level and play the football we played."

Last week's defeat has seen Liverpool drop down to fifth on the Premier League standings, while Tottenham are in second place following their 1-0 win over Middlesbrough on Saturday.

Kick off is at 19:30.
