Matip set for Liverpool return

Cape Town - Liverpool defender Joel Matip took part in training after recovering from the ankle injury which ruled him out of Sunday's defeat to Bournemouth.

After the dramatic 4-3 loss to the Cherries, Jurgen Klopp's side travelled to Barcelona for a warm-weather training camp, and arrived in Catalonia on Sunday night.

ESPN FC reported that on Monday the players participated in a recovery session while Tuesday was set aside for training.

Matip, who has been an inspiration in the Reds defense after joining on a free transfer from Schalke in the off-season, was one of the squad members which participated in Tuesday's training session.

The Merseysiders have tasted defeat twice in the Premier League so far this season - at home to Burnley and away to Bournemouth - and Matip was absent on both occasions.

They will also visit the Nou Camp to watch Barcelona's Champions League tie against Borussia Monchengladbach, before returning to England on Wednesday.
