Matic: Liverpool win boosts United spirit

Cape Town - Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic believes the 2-1 win over arch-rivals Liverpool gave the team a great confidence boost ahead of the crunch Sevilla clash.

The Red Devils were led to victory by Marcus Rashford's two goals at Old Trafford on Saturday, which consolidated second place for them in the Premier League standings.

United now prepare to face Sevilla in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League last-16 tie on Tuesday. They drew 0-0 in Spain in the first leg and Matic is determined to finish the job at home.

"Very important for our confidence to win this sort of game. We won against Chelsea and of course (on Saturday), so confidence will be on a high level, for sure," Matic told the press when asked about the Liverpool win.

"We have to see what we did well to continue like this. We have to know where we made mistakes to improve.

"The next game is very important for us, maybe the most important game of the season. We have to beat Sevilla to go through, so we give our best."
