Cape Town - Manchester City centre-back Eliaquim Mangala admits he is unlikely to earn a call-up to the France national team for the 2018 Soccer World Cup considering his lack of game time.
The 26-year-old remains determined to fight for a place at the 2018 Soccer World Cup, but he has only played only 79 minutes of Premier League football this season, which severely limits his chance of a call-up.
However, John Stones is injured and Vincent Kompany has struggled for fitness which could give Mangala an opportunity to prove himself worthy of Les Bleus.
"The World Cup is still on my mind. You have to be realistic, at the moment it's impossible for me to go to the World Cup," he told Sky Sports News.
"In two, three or four months' time, we'll see what's going to happen. The season is long; you never know what's going to happen but today it's complicated.
"I'm going to fight until the end and we'll see what happens."
City welcome Southampton to the Ethihad Stadium on Wednesday evening for a Premier League clash.
Kick off is at 22:00.
