Cape Town - Manchester United were once again made to struggle at home on Saturday at Old Trafford against Crystal Palace, as it ended 0-0 in the Premier League.
It was the visitors who could have taken the lead in the 22nd minute as Jessie Lingard gave away the ball to Luka Milivojevic, who then found Wilfried Zaha. He unleashed a shot which flew just wide of the target.
Four minutes later it perhaps should have been 1-0 to the Eagles as Zaha picked out Patrick Van Aanholt and he raced through on goal, before miscuing his strike wide.
On the half-an-hour mark United responded as Ashley Young's cross found Lingard but his strike was saved by Wayne Hennessey.
From the rebound, Anthony Martial's header looped straight back at the goalkeeper.
Just before the break, Palace had the ball in the net but it was disallowed for offside.
In the second period Man United lacked any real threat in the final third though they did have the ball in the back of the net, yet it was correctly ruled out for offside.
In the last 20 minutes Andros Townsend raced beyond Victor Lindelof and Nemanja Matic before being one-on-one with David de Gea, though the winger rolled it wide of the post.
In the closing stages the Red Devils lacked imagination and were perhaps fortunate to come away with at least a point on home soil.
