Cape Town - Crystal
Palace manager Roy Hodgson believes midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek has a
great opportunity to become a key member of the Eagles this season.
The 21-year-old, who is on loan from Chelsea, made an instant impact at Palace this campaign and was rewarded for his performances with an England debut.
Hodgson is confident that the recent success will not negatively influence the young midfielder and that the staff at Palace will keep him grounded and focused.
"That's an easy thing to do. I and my coaching staff are quite experienced; a lot of the players are experienced, so it won't just be me (talking to him). I'm pretty certain everyone will," said Hodgson, as quoted by Sky Sports, when asked about keeping the player's feet on the ground.
"Ruben Loftus-Cheek is a sensible young man. He knows he's at the start of what could be a big career, and it's starting later than maybe it could have done because it started in the shadows at (parent club) Chelsea, behind some fabulous players.
"But now here he is, with a great chance to be a key figure for Crystal Palace for the rest of the season, and really make a mark, and already his talent has been recognised by England."
