Liverpool's Moreno edging closer to Lazio switch

Cape Town - Serie A outfit Lazio are on the verge of signing Liverpool left-back Alberto Moreno on a pre-contract deal, reports claim.

Spain international Moreno joined the Reds in 2014 from Sevilla and he was a regular first-team fixture during his first two seasons in England, making 60 Premier League appearances and scoring three goals.

However, the arrival of Scottish star Andrew Robertson from Hull City for a mere 8 million pounds saw his fortunes change.

Moreno has only featured in two league matches this season and with his contract coming to an end in the summer, he is expected to leave Anfield on a free transfer.

Former employers Sevilla are said to be interested in re-signing him, while Atletico Madrid is another club believed to be showing an interest in acquiring the left-back's signature.

However, it is claimed Lazio, who are sitting sixth in Serie A, are leading the race for Moreno and that a pre-contract agreement is close to being announced.

The Biancocelesti are eager to strengthen their defensive ranks in the summer and snapping up the Spaniard on a free could represent a good deal.
