Liverpool's Kent seals permanent Rangers switch

Cape Town - Liverpool winger Ryan Kent has joined Steven Gerrard's Rangers for a reported transfer fee of £7 million.

The 22-year-old spent last season on loan at Ibrox, earning rave reviews as he netted six goals in 43 appearances for the Glasgow giants before returning to Anfield over the summer.

It soon became clear that Rangers wanted to take him back, while the player himself was also keen to stay with Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard north of the border, but striking a deal was never going to be easy.

Despite his undoubted talent, Kent made just one Premier League appearance for Liverpool back in 2016 and was always going to struggle to force his way into the thoughts of Reds boss Jurgen Klopp moving forward.

Liverpool made it clear they were happy to let Kent move on, but ruled out another loan move, something which Rangers were initially angling for.

There had been talk of plenty of interest from English Championship clubs, including Leeds United, and Liverpool were confident of getting the fee and deal they were after.

However, no bids were forthcoming, and a move to Rangers or stay and play for the Liverpool under-23s looked to be the only options. Kent wanted the former, and there was even talk of him downing tools to try and force through a move.

Thankfully it has not come to that as Rangers have decided to dig deep into their pockets to pay the £7 million that Liverpool were asking for.
