Liverpool want their 'Mane'

Cape Town - Liverpool are ready to step up their efforts to sign Southampton forward Sadio Mane after apparently failing to land Mario Gotze.

According to the Daily Telegraph, Gotze’s refusal to leave Bayern Munich means Jurgen Klopp will now focus his efforts on the Senegal international.

Southampton are expected to ask between £25m and £30m for Mane.

However, Liverpool made an approach for Mane a few weeks ago and talks have been ongoing, the report said.

Anfield officials fear talks could be prolonged as Southampton are busy looking for a replacement for Ronald Koeman following his switch to Everton.

Should Mane make the switch, he would follow in the footsteps of Adam Lallana, Nathaniel Clyne and Dejan Lovren in leaving St. Mary’s for Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp is said to be a big admirer of attacking midfielder Mane, who netted twice against Liverpool last season as the Saints came back from 2-0 down to triumph 3-2.
