Cape Town - Cologne left-back Jonas Hector's agent has confirmed the player has been permitted to discuss a move away from the German club.
Jurgen Klopp is reportedly eyeing a swoop for a number of Bundesliga players, among them, Cologne's highly-rated left-back.
Amidst the pre-summer transfer speculation, the 25-year-old's agent has confirmed the club has not only given permission for Hector to consider offers, but that Cologne's signing of Filip Mladenovic was a pre-emptive move to cover for his likely transfer.
"Cologne already reacted to Jonas' potential transfer with the signing of Filip Mladenovic," Rainer Derber told German publication Kicker.
"Upon consultation with Cologne we are allowed to talk to interested clubs, but this won't happen before the end of the Bundesliga season.
"Jonas knows what it is like to sign a contract. Not only he would have to profit from a transfer but also Cologne."
Last month, Cologne's manager, Peter Stoger, discussed the possibility of the Germany international's move away from the club with Kicker, admitting that retaining the player's services next season may be a challenge.
"If a two-figure million sum is offered, we'd consider it," he said. "And if Jonas Hector says that he doesn't want to stay here, we'd have to face up to it."
The player is expected to attract a bid of approximately £12m.
