A few John Terry songs now... #terrywatch
FULL TIME. A cracking fixture comes to an end in London with both teams finding their groove in the second half. Courtois and De Gea performed outstandingly with the latter again proving to be arguably the best shot-stopper in the competition. A point for both teams mean that neither change their league position: Manchester in 5th place and Chelsea in 13th.
ANOTHER SAVE FROM DE GEA. Costa on fire. He finds himself in possession inside the box. He turns his marker beautifully and fires a low shot to the right of the United 'keeper who manages to keep the ball out. Terrific keeping.
Long ball forward to Pedro who can't control under pressure from Smalling.
LATE GOAL FOR CHELSEA. Diego Costa the man who finishes from a tight angle. He controls a short pass from Fabregas, turns and gets around a sliding challenge from Blind and the dive from De Gea and makes no mistake with an open goal in front of him. Drama at Stamford Bridge.
6 extra minutes.
Free kick 15 yards outside the United area. Willian's delivery is met by Costa but Daley Blind is on his man and his header is off target. Good defending. Goal kick for De Gea and United relieve some pressure.
It's all Chelsea right now. Long ball from Mikel finds Costa who goes to ground after being manhandled by Smalling. No free kick despite the Spaniard's modest appeal.
Substitution for Manchester. Memphis Depay on for the goalscorer Lindgard.
Yellow card for Smalling who finds himself lying flat on the ground in the path of a potentially dangerous through-ball. Cynical hand-ball punished with a booking.
Ten minutes left in the match. It's been highly entertaining second half. Excellent football from both teams. Chelsea will be throwing everything they can at the United defense.
Neat interplay between Costa and Fabregas in the United box but the final ball eludes Costa. The striker makes no attempt at hiding his disappointment, shaking his head and scowling in the direction of the midfielder.
CHANCE FOR ROONEY. The low cross from the right finds him in an awkward position. He attempts a very ambitious overhead kick which misses the upright by a yard. You'd fancy him to get those on target. He did well to get the shot in there.
ANOTHER SAVE FROM DE GEA. Fabregas tests him this time from close range. Difficult angle for the Chelsea forward but he manages to force the save.
Pedro on the right wins a corner for Chelsea. His outswinger finds Cahill whose header is deflected out for another corner. United clears the threat comfortably.
SAVE FROM DE GEA. Fantastic volley from Ivanovic. A cross from the right is deflected high into the air and comes down where the Serbian defender is waiting for it. De Gea's save isn't too bad either. Terrific football from both players.
Substitution for Chelsea. On comes Perdo for Matic.
More pressure from United. They're a different team to the one that ended the first half so insipidly.
YELLOW CARD FOR DALEY BLIND. The Dutchman barges Diego Costa to the ground just outside the area. A free kick for Chelsea in a very dangerous position but De Gea isn't tested.
GOAL FOR UNITED. What a shot from Jesse Lindgard. Sensational goal from the Austrian. A low cross from the left hand flank isn't cleared and the ball ends up behind the winger who controls beautifully, spins around and volleys into the top-right corner. No chance for Courtois.
Gary Cahill comes on for the injured Frenchman who's applauded by the crowd as he's carried off.
Wow Zouma's done himself some serious damage here. The Chelsea defender lands awkwardly after jumping for an attempted clearance and his knee bends in away that it certainly wasn't designed to. He's carried off after screaming in pain clutching his leg. That wasn't fun to watch.
SAVE FROM COURTOIS. The ball finds Lingard just outside the area and he curls a shot towards the right hand upright. The Chelsea keeper dives to palm the ball away for a corner. End-to-end stuff now. Good attacking football from both teams.
Chelsea threaten inside the United area but can't create an opening for a shot. The ball is cleared and there's a throw-in for united to relieve a short spell of pressure.
SHOT FROM ROONEY. He cuts inside 10 yards outsisde the Chelsea area and unleashes a ferocious shot which Courtois manages to keep out with a strong right hand diving low and to his right.
CHANCE FOR ROONEY. Terrific early cross from the midfield from Juan Mata finds the lone striker who doesn't quite get to it under pressure and the header loops high towards Courtois who makes no mistake jumping and securing the ball.
Chelsea into the attack immediately through Willian. His attempted pass into the United area is comfortably gathered by De Gea.
SECOND HALF UNDERWAY.
HALF TIME. What a comeback from the embattled Londoners. After posing absolutely no threat in the first 25 minutes they have changed gears and bossed the last twenty minutes creating double the amount of chances than their opposition. Hiddink will be hoping for more of the same in the second half, while Manchester will need the next 15 minutes to compose themselves.
CHANCE FOR CHELSEA. Jon Terry's shot is blocked by Blind. Neat bit of play from the Chelsea forwards as the ball is worked from the left flank to the right. Willian puts in an awkward short cross that somehow finds the Chelsea captain. His shot looks hits Blind on the arm. Huge appeal for a penalty but it would have been a brave decision to award a penalty.
Despite their dominance in the first 25 minutes, United are looking toothless in the final third. They might regret wasting all their first-half possession.
Lovely touch from Lingard puts Mata through on the right-hand edge of the Chelsea box. He has lots of time to put a cross in but it's blocked and goes out for United's tenth corner. Outswinger from Lingard finds Fellaini but the Belgian is well marked and his header is well off target.
Chelsea all over United now. Creating for more clear cut chances than Manchester had done so far this half.
CHANCE FOR CHELSEA. Willian is in the box on the right flank and puts a delightful pass across the united goal. Blind is beaten and De Gea's dive is over the ball but it's just too heavy for Oscar who would have had an open goal to prod the ball into.
ANOTHER CHANCE FOR CHELSEA. Oscar this time. He receives a short pass after some excellent interplay between him and his teammates in the United box. His shot is blasted over the top of the crossbar though. A wasted chance. He'd be very disappointed not to have even bothered De Gea there. Much better from Chelsea.
CHANCE FOR CHELSEA. Costa's shot from just inside the area gets past De Gea who's wrong-footed but the ball just misses the far-end's upright. Lovely pass through to him from Fabregas.
CHANCE FOR CHELSEA. Lovely one-two between Willian and Ivanovic. The Spaniard's shot is blocked by Blind for a corner. Nothing comes from it though. Can Chelsea pick up some momentum?
And would you believe it? Chelsea have a corner. Matic drives towards the United box and his cross is blocked by Smalling. Willian comes across from the right to take it but the inswinging delivery is cleared. Costa appeals heavily for a penalty after being pulled back by Blind but the referee is having none of it.
United's NINTH corner is again cleared by the Chelsea defense. Despite all their possession though Manchester have created very few real chances. One does feel that it's a matter of time though.
Another scramble in the Chelsea box. The ball comes to Carrick whose shot is off target. Relief for Chelsea.
Great cross in from Martial again. Gets away from his defender and swings the ball in to Fellaini with his right foot. Terry headers the ball clear. Corner for United after a brief scramble for the ball.
Diego Costa wins a high ball and gets a pass off to Willian on the right but his cross goes out for a goal kick.
SAVE FROM COURTOIS. Martial cuts back and finds enough space 15 yards outside the box and gets off a terrific curling shot which the Chelsea keeper JUST manages to tip over the top-left corner. Too much space for the youngster.
Good play from Chelsea now. On the break Fabregas puts Matic in space but his shot outside the box is bloacked by Smalling. Chelsea take possession on their right flank and Willian attempts a run into the box but puts the ball out for a goal kick.
United dominating possession now.
Another corner for United. On their right flank this time. It's controlled nicely by Terry. Chelsea try to run the ball out of their half under pressure. After a brief scramble it falls for Carrick who smashes a long range effort low to the right of Courtois. The 'keeper saves comfortably.
Oscar plays a ball through the the united back line. But there isn't a teammate to run on to it. There isn't even a player close to it. Oscar looks around sheepishly.
United certainly looking comfortable going forward. Again finding space on their right flank but the cross is put out for another corner. It's passed back to Carrick who puts in a poor cross which is easily cleared.
Long range effort from Borthwick-Jackson but straight at Courtois and the Chelsea keeper takes it comfortably.
More probing from Manchester United. Another corner. Fellaini doing well to make space for his forwards. The ball in low and fast and put out for another corner.
Matic brings Fellaini down in the midfield. Free kick. This should be an interesting confrontation.
Corner for Manchester. Lovely early cross into the Chelsea box but Zouma heads it out of play. Nothing comes of the corner.
United probing down the left flank through Fellaini but the ball is Shepherded into the arms of Curtois by Terry.
KICKOFF. Here we go.
There was a time when the outcome of this particular fixture played a significant role in determining who'd walk away with the league trophy. Today not so much. That's not to say the football will be any less exciting than what we've come to expect when these two teams meet. This is Manchester United vs Chelsea.
