Leicester sign Coventry youngster Thomas

London - Leicester City signed promising young Coventry City forward George Thomas for an undisclosed fee on Tuesday.

Leicester-born Thomas has agreed a three-year contract with the Premier League club after his Coventry deal expired at the end of last season.

Craig Shakespeare's side made a compensation payment to the League Two team for Thomas, who can also play in midfield and is set to be part of Leicester's development squad this season.

"I'm delighted to get it over the line finally and I'm looking forward to the season coming and seeing what I can do," Thomas told Leicester's website.

Thomas came through the ranks at Coventry and scored nine times in 36 appearances for the Sky Blues last season, including the winner in the EFL Trophy final against Oxford United.

The 20-year-old, who made his Coventry debut four years ago, represented Wales at this summer's Toulon Tournament.
