Lazio target Tosun hoping for Everton stay

Cape Town - Reported Lazio target Cenk Tosun has indicated a desire to stay at Everton despite experiencing a disappointing campaign at Goodison Park.

Tosun struggled for action under Marco Silva last season and managed just 10 Premier League starts, although he featured a further 15 times from the bench.

The Turkey international has been linked with a move to Serie A outfit Lazio.

Tosun started and scored in the 2-2 draw with Tottenham in the final round of fixtures and he feels that performance has boosted his chances of challenging for a more regular role next term.

"I was hungry for the shirt and that was why I gave everything," he told the club's website. "What happens in the final game stays in people's minds.

"It leaves a mark going into the summer. It was important for me to play well in that last match against Tottenham."

He added: "We played very well in the second half against Tottenham and it was in my heart to score. When I did, I celebrated like crazy.

"The goal really meant a lot to me. I wanted to score so much in this match and the feeling was wonderful, especially in front of our supporters."
