Klopp never doubted Moreno's quality

Cape Town - Jurgen Klopp says he has no problems with defender Alberto Moreno following his return to the Liverpool side in recent games.

The Spaniard started the 2-1 English Football League Cup win over Tottenham and kept his place in the 4-2 Premier League victory over Crystal Palace, with James Milner out with illness.

He started the season as first-choice left-back for the Reds, but after a horror-show in the 4-3 loss to Arsenal on the opening day, Klopp preferred rather to use versatile midfielder Milner in his position.

But a more mature Moreno has emerged, with Klopp explaining: "There was never a doubt about Alberto,” said the man who dropped him.

“He is a young player and needs to learn a lot of things. Sometimes he’s a little bit too passionate in defending. But he is still young and can learn things.

“You see he is quick, has a good left foot, a good attitude and runs up and down, up and down. It’s nice for a manager to work with boys like this. We have to work together and we do - all good.”

Meanwhile, Moreno will be hoping to keep his place as Klopp's charges look to make their Premier League intent noted against Watford at Anfield on Sunday.

Kick-off is at 16:15 (SA time).
