Kingsley extends Swansea contract

Cape Town - Swansea City have rewarded up and coming defender Stephen Kingsley with a new four-year contract, despite the fact he only made his debut less than six months ago.

The defender, who signed from Scottish Championship side Falkrik in at the start of the 2014 season, appeared only four times with the Swans after returning from his Crewe Alexandra loan spell last term.

Kingsley, who also spent time on loan to Yeovil Town, expressed his delight at finally making an impact on the Premier League.

"The last six months have been a whirlwind," the 21-year-old told the club's official website.

"Everything has happened so quickly," he continued. "But this is just the start for me. I am just looking forward to getting into the new season and trying to push on.

"It's great to get the new contract done. I now have the next four years to look forward to and it is time for me to push on."

The Scotsman's contract was due to expire at the end of the 2016/17 season, but he will now remain with the club until at least 2020.
