Keane hails resolute Burnley defence

Cape Town - Burnley centre-back Michael Keane has praised the way the team's defence consistently performed over the past season to help build a solid foundation for the club.

The Clarets staved off the threat of relegation thanks to terrific form at home and a tightly-knit defence that let in fewer goals than any other sides in the bottom half of the standings.

Keane spoke highly of his partners in the Burnley defence, centre-back Ben Mee, and full-backs Stephen Ward and Matt Lowton.

“That has given us a good platform to go and play, we’ve had a steady back five all season until recent weeks,” Keane told the Lancashire Telegraph.

“I think Ben has been unbelievable next to me, I give him huge credit and he’s been fantastic to play with for the last two years, but as well Wardy and Lowts have been terrific all season.

“I think we’ve all improved as the season has gone on. We’ve helped each other out and we’ve got stronger and more confident.”

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
